is pleased to offer a unique angling opportunity drift fishing for smallmouth bass on the Susquehanna River.

The River

The Susquehanna River is rated as one of, if not the best, smallmouth bass fishery in the USA. With a watershed of over 27,500 square miles.

Your Susquehanna trip can be combined with a visit to the fabled waters of central Pennsylvania such as the Letort, Yellow Breeches, etc. Or, you may choose to combine your float trip with one of our Orvis Endorsed Fly Fishing Schools.

The Susquehanna boasts a huge population of bronzebacks offering the fly angler an opportunity to hook into incredible numbers of fish.

Our guides are courteous and competent professionals, with years of angling and guiding experience on premier trout and bass waters around the country. They are Orvis endorsed instructors, and are happy to share their knowledge and experience with anglers of all skill levels.

OUR TRIPS

We offer single day and multi-day packages suitable for one to two anglers, or small groups. We can custom tailor a package to suit each individual's tastes.

DAY FLOAT PACKAGE
Day's float trip consists of a 9-hour float. Wading can be included in the day's activities at your choosing. The guide will select your starting time and fishing waters based on the previous day's events. You meet your guide at the Blue Mountain Outfitters at a designated time. The guide will review with you the current hatches and fishing conditions. He will make his suggestions and recommendations for fly patterns and tackle setup at that time. After everyone is ready to go, he will you at your vehicle to transfer your gear to his vehicle for the trip to the launching site. Upon completion of the trip, he will return you to your vehicle.

In addition to our drift boat trips, we also specialize in wading trips on some of the famous Cumberland Valley spring and freestone creeks.

WADING TRIPS
In addition to our drift boat trips, Lehigh Gap Outfitters also offers guided fly fishing services to the famous Cumberland Valley streams as well as other regional streams. A great way to spend a weekend!

LGO also offers a number of other angling opportunities available to you from wade fishing in special regulation water on area freestone streams (one of which you can literally fish from our parking lot), or wild brookies in small mountain headwater streams.

RATES AND PACKAGES
ONE DAY- Float Trip or Walk/Wade Fishing for 1 or 2 anglers $335.00

All prices are for one or two anglers. All full day trips include lunch. Prices do not include guide gratuities.

A 50% deposit is required to secure your trip dates. Balance is due on arrival.

CREDIT CARD FEES: Prices quoted above represent payment by cash or check. Due to recent dramatic credit card feed increases by VISA and MASTERCARD, we forced to apply a 5% surcharge on all credit card transactions for trips and schools.

CANCELLATIONS OR RESCHEDULING: Cancellations an rescheduling will be accepted no later than two weeks prior to your scheduled date. We cannot influence the moods of Mother Nature. Postponed trips due to conditions and all refunds are at the discretion of Lehigh Gap Outfitters. All deposits will be held and your trip will be rescheduled within one calendar year.

Remember, we do not enjoy fishing in poor conditions any more than you do. Our goal is for you to have a memorable trip.

REPORTS FROM THE RIVER

High water temperatures. We are currently not guiding on the Susquehanna because the fish are suffering from high stress and bacterial infections.


HATCHES AND FLY PATTERNS

Smallmouth Seasons:

July White Fly hatch starts. Surface action is heavy.
August As the shallow water warms up, the bigger fish move to deeper water. Shallows are productive early morning and late evening. Surface active continues with the White Fly in the evening.
