YELLOWSTONE COUNTRY
MONTANA

Listen as the wind blows from across the Great Divide, and step back in time about 200 years with John Colter, a private on leave from the Lewis and Clark expedition, as he first describes the area in 1807 as having an almost supernatural aura and extraordinary beauty. To many, it stills retains that aura and beauty after leaving the roads and other signs of man behind you as you hike or fish your way along the rivers.

THE TROUT CLUB

This adventure is based at The Trout Club in the spectacular Gallatin River Canyon. The Trout Club is a private reserve of four cabins on 84 acres located one mile from the mouth of the Gallatin Canyon. It has half mile of frontage on the Gallatin River.

Each of the cabins are located among lodgepole pines and Douglas fir trees, surrounded by fresh mountain air, the chirping of birds, and the murmur of the river flowing through the canyon. Each cabin exists in its setting like a dream of a place to live in forever.

THE FISHING

The Gallatin River is at your front door. It flows out of nearby Yellowstone Park and through the incredibly wild and beautiful Gallatin River Canyon. The Gallatin is a blue ribbon wild trout river that is both scenic and productive. Rainbows are the predominant trout species. They range in size from 5 to 20 inches. Brown trout range up to 5 pounds.

Gallatin River

The Gallatin Canyon is forested with Lodgepole Pine and Douglas Fir. This conifer forest often reaches the river bank providing a pleasant atmosphere to fish. Many cold mountain streams feed the river in the canyon. In addition to providing great small stream fishing for wild trout, these streams also offer great photographic opportunities by drawing elk, deer, moose, and bighorn sheep to their banks.

Within easy driving distance from your beautiful log cabins are the Madison and Yellowstone Rivers. Also nearby is the Yellowstone National Park offering some of the most spectacular fishing and wilderness opportunities in the country.

Madison River is predominately Brown and Rainbow Trout fishery. It is a majestic river that begins in Yellowstone Park and flows through breathtaking scenery until it meets with it's sister rivers to form the Missouri River. Big game animals such as bear, deer, elk and moose are often visible to the angler during the duration of our trip.

Yellowstone River holds Brown, Rainbow, and Cutthroat Trout. It originates from Yellowstone Lake in the Park and flows northward through the scenic valley. It is the favorite of anglers to float during August. Trout are plentiful with a good chance of hooking a large fish while fishing grasshopper patterns.

ACCOMMODATIONS

As stated previously, our lodging and dining accommodations are at the Trout Club, consisting of four cabins located on 84 acres of lodgepole pines, Douglas fir trees, fresh mountain air, singing birds, and the songs of the Gallatin River as it flows by our cabins. Trout Club is located one mile from the mouth of the Gallatin Canyon.

With a half mile of frontage on the Gallatin River, you early risers can fish for Rainbow Trout exceeding 18 inches before breakfast. In the early evening you can fish in front of the Rainbow Lodge until dinner is served while those not fishing can relax on the deck of the Rainbow Lodge with their pre-dinner drink and watch your skillful approach and pursuit of the rising trout.
